Muntjac Deer

Female Muntjac Deer

I got some great close-up views of a group of Muntjac deer recently. Iā€™m so used to only seeing them briefly in woodlands, normally running off before I even know they were there. So it was an unusual treat to see them out in the open for an extended period of time.

It was one of those rare occasions where I actually had too much reach on my lens for what was in front of me. There were points when even without my teleconverter on, at 300mm, I was filling the frame with just the deer's head. Needless to say I took plenty of photos, to make the most of the opportunity, while it lasted.

All photos are available as prints here.
